Akiba Goldsmith Mixon was born to Willie David Sr. and Bernita Tyson Goldsmith on May 13, 1986. Akiba departed this earthly life on March 4, 2024 at 6:02PM at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL.
Akiba was preceded in death by her father, Willie David Goldsmith Sr., and son Christian Freeman. At an early age, she joined First African Baptist Church and remained there until uniting into holy matrimony with Joe R. Mixon, Jr. Akiba then joined MixonvilleCommunity First Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie A. Rudolph, Pastor. Akiba attended and graduated from Paxton High School in 2005. Akiba lived a full life. She loved to sing, meet people, and spend time with her family.
Akiba leaves her precious memories to her husband, the love of her life, Joe Recardo Mixon, Jr.; two children Se’Laniyah Shipman and Jeremiah Goldsmith; McKenzie, AL.; Mother Bernita Tyson Shipman; Florala, AL. Three brothersm, Jessie (Kizzy) Tyson; Defuniak Springs, FL.; Willie David Goldsmith, Jr. Florala, AL.; Oshae Roundtree; Panama City, FL.; Three sisters: Ayesha Roundtree, Pensacola, FL; Candy Miller, DeFuniak Springs, FL; Cassandra Goldsmith, Niceville, FL; eight aunts: Shirley Goldsmith, Lucille Williams, Lillie Porter, Betty Williams, Gloria Gundrum, Sandra Byrant, Eyvonne (Wilmer) Mixon, Jolanda (Donald) Bradley. Eight uncles: Joseph Goldsmith, Clyde Bryant, Allen Goldsmith, Johnny Tyson, James Tyson, Pastor Marcus Tyson, Lester Thompson, and LeRoy Walker Jr. In laws, Joe and Cynthia Mixon Sr. and sister-in-law Monica La’ShaMixon. A special niece Shanayh Tyson, and a host of nieces and nephews, lots of cousins ( more like brother and sisters), relatives and friends. Very special friends Heather Stewart and Olivia Austin.
