Lester Rue

Lester Rue was born September 22, 1937 to the late Oliver and Hattie Lee Rue in Long Creek, Alabama. He was affectionately called "Bate" by family and friends.

Lester married Margaret Boykin in 1963. They both attended Georgiana Public Schools. In 1964 they had their first child Stephanie Rue (deceased). Lester and Margaret moved to Maryland where they had their second child Meka Denise Rue in 1965.

Lester moved to several locations before settling in Detroit, Michigan, where he was employed by General Motors for over 28 years. There they had a son Oliver Dwayne Rue 1974.

Lester prided himself on being a family man. There was nothing he would not do for his family. He loved watching sports, game shows, and spending time with his family.

On Sunday October 10, 2021, Lester entered eternal rest.

Lester leaves to cherish memory, his loving wife Margaret, daughter Meka (Darryl), son Oliver "Wayne"(Toni), Granddaughters: Montoya "Toya", Tionne and Markia; Grandsons: Desmond (Cierra) and Dion. Great Grandchildren Jayden; Donald "Donnie"; Kenneth "Kash"; Skylar; Ghiana; Journey; Mariah and Isabella. Brothers Foreman (Lula Mae) and Charles (Unknown). Sisters Mattie Thompson "Jean" and Mary Brewer "Cook" Sister-in-laws Dorothy McClain “Dot”; Beverly; Debra Ann Wilkerson; Beatrice Lucious “Louise”; Shirley Wilkerson “Nokie” and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Hettie Lee Rue; and brothers Elmer Rue 'Botto"; Fulton "Bud"; Napoleon "Pole"; Sisters; Everlena Clay and Novella.
