Olean Binion

Olean Gandy Binion

Was born March 10, 1935, in Butler County, Alabama to the late Arthur and Idell Gandy. Mother Binion departed her earthly life and began her eternal life on December 23, 2023, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. She was a faithful member of the Long Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she served many many many years on the Usher Board and over the kitchen.

If you knew Olean, you know her favorite hobbies were fishing, cooking, and planting flowers. Olean was a 1954 graduate of Georgiana Training School.

Olean was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Idell Gandy, husband James "Pete" Binion, one sister Helen Poole, one grandson Dejour Gandy, and one Auntie who raised Olean as her own, Maggie Cryer.

Cherishing her memories are her loving sons, Wilbert Gandy and Leonard (Ernestine) Gandy, and her devoted daughter Anglia Squaire-one son in law whom she loved dearly, James Squaire. One god daughter Yoake (Alfonso) Benson and one god son Lindsey (Rebecca) Owens; one sister Annie Tillman; 11 grandchildren, 2 devoted grandsons whom she raised as her own Keon Binion and DeAarion Squaire; 7 great grands, one great grand arriving in February. One grand puppy Max. Several nieces and nephews (whom she loved as her own) cousins and friends.

One special CNA Tina Peterson; 3 caregivers Laurine Drakeford, Sammie Kelly, and Armeshia McCoy. Best Friend Sarah Golson; a long-time neighbor and usher friend Rosaline Hall; special cousin in law Beverly Rue.
