William Carl Poole was born on November 17, 1947, in Chapman, Alabama. He was the oldest of three children born to the late Joe Ree Poole and Lillie Mae Walton.
He attended school in Georgiana, Alabama and graduated from Georgiana Training School. At an early age, he was united with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Chapman where he was a faithful member. In later years, he united with the Friendship Baptist Church of Bolling, serving as a deacon and devoted Sunday school teacher until his health declined.
William was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Army from 1967-1969. He served in the Army National Guard for an additional 4 years. William married Curlie Coleman in January of 1971. To this union three children were born, Yolanda, Alicia, and William Chauncey Poole of Greenville, Alabama. He was employed with the Union Camp Corporation for more than 30 years.He was also a Deputy Sheriff of the Butler County Sheriff Department and a Police Officer for the Georgiana Police Department, retiring from law enforcement in 2009.
On March 16, 2024, God called William home. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Poole. He leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters, Yolanda Jones(Jeffery) Montgomery(Alabama);Alicia Green(Christopher)Monroe(Georgia); one son, William Chauncey Poole, Greenville (Alabama);one sister, Patsy Childress(Samuel-deceased), St. Louis (Missouri);four half- brothers; Marcus, Joe, Julius(deceased), Leroy and Anthony ; two aunts, Alfredia (Rev. Dr. Oscar L.) Montgomery ;Huntsville (Alabama); Clementine (Willie) Matthews; Georgiana (Alabama); five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four special cousins; Rosie Roberson, Earnest Morgan, Pauline Morgan, and Richard Morgan; two bonus sons; Antoine Scott and Anthony Scott; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
