Wilson Gandy Jr. Obituary

Reflections of Life

Buddy was born to the late Wilson, Sr. and Susan Mixon Gandy.  They both preceded him in death.  He moved to California in 1969 where he met his 1st wife , Helen Elena Felix Gandy. To this union 1 child was born Wilson Gandy III (Dee Dee). She gifted Buddy with 4 children Mark and Paul Bell of Georgiana, AL, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bell of San Fernando, CA, Elena Bell (Angel).  After the passing of his first wife, he married Edna Mayfield Gandy and she gifted him with 6 children: Willie Edward, David Lee, Bobby, Douglas, and Cindy –Necole (Angel).

Buddy accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age.  He attended school at R. L. Austin High.  He moved to California where he resided for many years.  He worked for Morse Electronics and True Cast. He later started hi own business (Gandy Trucking) driving across country.  He then moved back to Alabama and recommitted himself with the Big Pine Level #1, under the leadership of Rev. David Kyser where he was ordained as a deacon. He worked for a few more years, then he went into retirement.  He kept busy working and assisting his family, church and community until his health slowed him down. Not only was Buddy a son, father, brother, uncle, granddad, great/great/great uncle, He was a man of God. He was a man of strength, love and compassion.  He served a life that touched so many with Joy and Love. He had a smile and laugh that would light up a room.  His love for family was untouchable. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for family and friends. When his health began to fail, you could hear him singing the following songs – “Your Grace and Mercy Brought me Through”, “Whatever You Need, God’s Got it” – and “While the Blood is Running Warm in Your Veins”.  We think Buddy had his own Homegoing Service. Just Him and our Heavenly Father with those songs.

On September 23, 2023 at his home around 5:30 A.M., He slowly drifted off to eternal peace, just him and the Lord.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, Wilson and Susie Gandy, 2 brothers, Ronald and Joel Gandy and twin boys.

He leaves to cherish some awesome memories, Mark and Paul Bell, Wilson III (Dee Dee), Lizzy, Willie Edward, David, Bobby, Douglas and Cindy. Numerous grands and great grandchildren; Three siblings, Earthie Gandy, Henderson, TX, Lindsey Gandy, Sr. (Jackie), Alice Gandy-Tillman (Floyd), Georgiana, AL; One Uncle, Roshell Gandy (Betty), Niagara Falls, NY; Six Aunts, Annie Byfield, Milwaukee, WI, Deola Herbert, Pittsburg, PA, Sue Mixon, Clewiston, FL; Brenda Dowens and Vitera Gandy, of Georgiana, AL; Sister-In-Laws, Jackie Gandy and Patricia Gandy; Special Cousin, Willie C.
